The Mei-Tai laid out, from top to bottom.
Here's a little photo tutorial for a
FRONT CARRY, illustrated by our lovely models, Olivia and her Auntie Corinne:

Step 1: Tie the bottom straps around your waist.

Step 2: Pull the body of the carrier (or "apron") out in front.

Step 3: Add a baby.

Step 4: Bring the top straps up around your shoulders, creating a pocket for the baby.

Step 5: Cross the top straps over your shoulders and across your back, as illustrated.

Step 6: Bring the straps around to your front, and tie them firmly around the back of the baby.

Voila!

And here's a little photo tutorial for a BACK CARRY, illustrated by Olivia and her Mama:

Step 1: Tie the bottom straps around your waist, with the knot in the front.

Step 2: Pull the body of the carrier (or "apron") out behind you.

Step 3: Add a baby, by starting with her on your hip, then moving her to your back.

Step 4: Leaning forward, bring the top straps up around your back, creating a pocket for the baby.

Step 5: Holding the straps tight (as this is what is keeping the baby in place), bring them around to the front of your body, over your shoulders, as illustrated.

Step 6: Bring the straps underneath your arms (much like a backpack) and around to the back of the carrier.

Step 7: Tie firmly under baby’s rump (double knot is best here, too!).

Voilá!
